ABOUT CHANDLER & SONS BUILDERS

Family Owned. Maine Built.

Chandler & Sons Builders is a family owned and operated custom home builder and residential contractor based in Ellsworth, Maine, serving homeowners throughout Hancock County, Mount Desert Island, and surrounding areas of coastal Maine.

For us, building is more than a business. Carpentry is a family trade that has been passed from one generation to the next.

Today, we bring that experience to custom homes, renovations, framing, and exterior construction with a commitment to quality craftsmanship, honest communication, and treating every client and property with respect.

OUR STORY

Carpentry Runs in the Family

For owner Codey Chandler, carpentry has always been part of life.

Codey began learning the trade from his father, a master carpenter, and has now spent more than 20 years working in the carpentry and construction industry. The skills, attention to detail, and respect for the trade that he learned early on continue to influence the way Chandler & Sons Builders approaches its work today.

In 2019, Codey established Chandler & Sons Builders and began building a company centered around craftsmanship, honesty, and doing right by the people who trust us with their homes.

The name Chandler & Sons also represents the future of the company. Codey has three sons, and his hope is that one day they may choose to learn the trade and become part of the family business themselves, carrying the tradition into another generation.

For us, the name on the company means something. We want the work behind it to mean something too.

FAMILY OWNED AND OPERATED

A Family Business From the Office to the Jobsite

Chandler & Sons Builders remains a hands on family business.

Codey is directly involved in the day to day construction and works alongside the crew in the field, helping ensure the craftsmanship and attention to detail associated with the Chandler & Sons name remains consistent across our projects.

His brother, Corey Chandler, serves as Business Development Director while also working in the field as part of the building team. Corey helps manage client relationships, business development, marketing, and other aspects of the company while remaining connected to the construction work itself.

That combination allows us to maintain the personal involvement of a family business while continuing to grow and take on increasingly substantial residential projects throughout the areas we serve.

MORE THAN 20 YEARS IN THE TRADE

Experience Built One Project at a Time

Codey's more than 20 years in carpentry have provided experience across many aspects of residential construction.

That experience influences how we approach structural framing, exterior construction, renovations, finish work, material selection, and the countless details that come together during a build. But experience is not just about knowing how to build.

It is also about knowing when something needs more attention, understanding that every property presents different challenges, communicating when conditions change, and taking the time to find the right solution. We bring that mindset to every Chandler & Sons project.

WHAT MATTERS TO US

Built on Craftsmanship and Trust

The quality of the finished project matters, but so does the experience of getting there. We believe homeowners deserve a builder who communicates honestly, treats people fairly, respects their property, and takes pride in doing the job correctly.

  • Our approach is straightforward.

  • Be honest about the work.

  • Communicate clearly.

  • Treat clients, employees, subcontractors, and suppliers with respect.

  • Do what we say we are going to do.

  • Never compromise craftsmanship simply because there is an easier way.

  • Those principles guide how we operate and the relationships we build with our clients.

OUR APPROACH

Thoughtful Construction From Start to Finish

Every project begins with listening.

We take the time to understand what our clients are trying to accomplish, the property they are building on, their plans, priorities, and expectations.

From there, we approach construction with careful attention to planning, communication, materials, and craftsmanship.

We work alongside trusted local subcontractors, suppliers, and other construction professionals when specialized trades or expertise are required.

Our goal is to make the construction process as straightforward and transparent as possible while never losing sight of the quality of the finished project.

BUILT FOR MAINE

Experience That Fits the Environment

Building in Maine comes with its own set of challenges.

Cold winters, coastal weather, wind, snow, moisture, and changing temperatures all influence the materials and construction methods that make sense for a home.

Our experience includes working with quality building products such as Marvin windows, AZEK exterior products, LP SmartSide siding, natural wood, Ipe decking, and other materials selected according to the needs of each project.

We believe a well built Maine home should balance craftsmanship and appearance with practical durability.

It should look beautiful today and continue performing for years to come.

THE CHANDLER & SONS TEAM

The People Behind the Work

Every Chandler & Sons project is the result of people who care about what they are building.

Our crew brings hands on carpentry and construction experience to each jobsite and works alongside homeowners, subcontractors, suppliers, and other professionals to bring each project to life.

We take pride in creating a company culture centered around respect, hard work, accountability, and craftsmanship.

OUR WORK

Projects We Are Proud to Put Our Name On

From waterfront custom homes and wooded Maine properties to renovations, garages, decks, and detailed exterior construction, every project gives us an opportunity to demonstrate the quality of our work.

Rather than simply telling prospective clients what we can do, we want our completed projects to speak for themselves.

FINAL CALL TO ACTION

Let's Build Something Together

Choosing a builder is an important decision, and we believe the relationship between a homeowner and builder should begin with trust.

If you are planning a custom home, renovation, or residential construction project in Hancock County, Mount Desert Island, or the surrounding area, we would be happy to learn more about what you have in mind.
